THE CALL FOR INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
The DAStU - Department of Architecture and Urban Studies at Politecnico di Milano is seeking to fill three tenured positions, at Associate Professor level, beginning in September 2018. Eligible candidates will have worked as associate professors (or equivalent) at a University or Research Centre outside Italy for at least 3 years. Alternatively, they will be required to obtain the official Italian qualification (abilitazione scientifica) at Associate Professor level by June 2018. The successful candidates for each of the three positions are expected to pursue highest quality research, and will teach in graduate and undergraduate courses at the School of Architecture, Politecnico di Milano, in one of the fields above mentioned, for a total of 120 hours a year. Courses are taught in English. We offer a competitive compensation package, including a gross salary of between €50,000 and €70,000 a year, personal income tax at 10% for the first 3 years, and a research allowance of €20,000 a year for the first 3 years.

DAStU - DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN STUDIES
The Department of Architecture and Urban Studies is a thematic and interdisciplinary research structure of the Politecnico di Milano, established in January 2013. The Department carries out research, design experimentation and training activities in the field of architectural and urban design, spatial planning and territorial governance, urban studies, preservation and intervention on the built and natural heritage, historical and critical interpretation of architecture and the city. It is one of the most important research structures in Italy in the field of the disciplines of the city and territory, integrated in a strong international network of centers of excellence and open to different forms of co‐operation with institutional and social actors at the local, national and international levels.
THE 3 TENURED POSITIONS:
• Associate Professor in the field of Architectural Design
We are interested in candidates whose research programs are focused on the relationship between the different scales of architectural design (from that of buildings to their interior, from that of city to landscape), considering the theories and techniques of the contemporary project, the transformations of built contexts and the questions related to their environmental conditions. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding achievement in the applied and experimental aspects concerning the typological, compositive, constructive characters, and the different problematic dimensions of architecture and its contemporary declinations. On these themes, candidates should have published in international journals and books, showing evidence of recognition in the international academic community.
• Associate Professor in the fields of History of Architecture, Preservation of Cultural Heritage, Representation of Cultural Heritage
We are interested in candidates whose research programs are focused on the core issues of architecture and urban history, construction history and history of building systems, built heritage preservation and enhancement, advanced techniques in representing heritage. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding achievement, publications in top international journals and evidence of recognition in the international academic community. We are especially interested in candidates whose research record cuts across two or more of the above fields. For example: energy and built heritage, digital skills to compare, interpret, communicate historical, analytical evidences, physical data and intangible meanings of cultural heritage and landscapes.
• Associate Professor in the fields of Planning, Urbanism and Urban Studies
We are interested in candidates whose research programs are focused on the core issues of contemporary urban planning and design, considering the major changes in the European and/or non‐European urban realm and the consequent challenges in design, policies and plans. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding achievement in the fields of urban planning, urban studies, urban design, urban policy, regional studies, social sciences focused on urban and regional development; publications in top international journals, and evidence of recognition in the international academic community. We are especially interested in candidates whose research record cuts across two or more of the above fields.
