Within the three days themes, organised in 18 parallel sessions and 68 speakers, we invite participants to submit abstracts related to the following session topics:

Day 1:

• Gaps in Urban Landscapes
• New Landscapes  
• Forgotten places: landscape, culture and identity  
• Eco-city: sustainable design and solutions  
• Water as a key-element: waterscapes / water management / water fronts  
• Dynamic landscapes  
• Living systems: contemporary trends and innovative technologies in Landscape Architecture
• Wild card: open topic

Day 2:

• Gaps in Urban Life  
• New Lives  
• Landscapes of transformation: design for everyone
• Different places for different faces: multi-diversity in urban context  
• Transforming communities: social learning and community engagement  
• Changing disciplines, changing landscapes: communication as a gap  
• From teaching to practice: new research and methodologies in Landscape Architecture  
• Reading in between the gaps: philosophy and landscape  
• Healthy cities, healthy lives: legislation, policies and effective governance  
• Wild card: open topic

Day 3:

• Quality of life / Quality of living  
• Temporary landscapes and art intervention  
• Critical and creative thinking  
• Environment and behaviour: improving the quality of life
• Regional planning, infrastructures performance and mobility

GOALS
:
• Promote Landscape Architecture as a generator of quality of life in city environments;
• Promote professional cooperation between different fields dealing with city space and environment;
• Expose key speakers, speakers and guest to new and innovating ideas and ways of thinking
• Learn key skills needed for ensuring the future
• Focus public attention on city space and quality of life;
• Invite city space users to appreciate the city and learn how to use it;
• Through worldwide case-studies, find solutions for Tallinn’s city space challenges;
• Reveal and promote Estonia as a green, nature-friendly and innovative country
• Share experiences with the next generation of city planners.

The abstracts should be submitted electronically through our website www.efla2011.com by 1st June 2011.
Abstracts are required for all presentations, including posters, and should comprise a maximum of 500 words. All pictures and graphics should be uploaded electronically as well in one .doc or *.pdf file (in a maximum size of 6MB).
