Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize

The Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize is a biennial international award to recognise individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to the creation of vibrant, liveable and sustainable urban communities around the world. It seeks to recognise individuals and organisations responsible for urban initiatives that display foresight, good governance or innovation in tackling the many urban challenges faced by cities. These urban initiatives can include (but are not limited to) urban planning projects, urban policies and programmes, urban management, as well as applied technology in urban solutions. The Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize is officially launched on 22 June 2009 and is open for nominations. The inaugural Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize will be awarded in June 2010 at the Lee Kuan Yew Awards Ceremony and Banquet, which will be held during the World Cities Summit 2010 in Singapore. The Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize is co-organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore (URA) and Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC). Co-organised by Singapore’s land use planning and conservation authority - the Urban Redevelopment Authority and the Centre for Liveable Cities, the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize is a biennial international award that seeks to recognise the achievements of outstanding individuals and organisations who have contributed urban initiatives, policies or projects which epitomise foresight, good governance or innovation in overcoming the challenges faced by cities. The inaugural Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize will be awarded in June 2010, at the Lee Kuan Yew Awards Ceremony and Banquet, to be held during the World Cities Summit 2010 in Singapore. The Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize Laureate will be presented with an award certificate, a gold medallion, and a cash prize of S$300,000, sponsored by Keppel Corporation. Nominations are applicable for all individuals and organisations who have demonstrated key leadership role in the fields of (but not limited to) urban planning, urban policies and programmes, urban management, and applied technology in urban solutions.
