IT Information Transfer and Matchmaking Event "Digital Cities" Monday, 26 March 2007 09.00 h till 17.30 h Rathaus Schwechat (Schwechat City Hall) Gemeinderatssitzungssaal (Hall of Municipal Council) 2nd Floor Rathausplatz 9 A 2320 Schwechat Just a few years ago, the term "digital" was connected to "cities" by the PCs on the desks of the cities´ administration officers. Today, Digital Cities is a race for investors, a battle for top rankings, a pillar of Information Society concepts. Learning has turned digital, like reading the gas meters or blood pressure, traffic surveillance, tax paying, control of parking tickets, access control, urban planning, shopping and so on. Today progressive cities are showing off an "e" in front of their names – eTampere, ePrague, eGyör, eSchwechat, eDunnowhat. Tomorrow there´ll be no need, as "e" will be normal. Still, the "e" is not yet everybody’s darling. But we should monitor the race for it, as speed kills – or rather the lack of it. talk&match.IT "Digital Cities" is a top event on the digitalisation of urban life, be it in business, administration or an individual´s life. Join the conference to learn what happens tomorrow. Or even today.
