Envisioning the Future Federal Workplace

[i]2009-2010 Academic-Year Fellowship[/i] Department of Geography and Geoinformation Science George Mason University Fairfax, Virginia USA The Department of Geography and Geoinformation Science at George Mason University is seeking graduate student applicants (masters or doctoral) for two Fellowship positions starting in the fall semester of 2009. The successful candidates will work on a grant from the General Services Administration to create a GIS-based, decision support tool to help the federal government plan where to locate their facilities in the National Capital Region over the next half-century. Fellows will work with a team of three faculty members from the Department who collectively have expertise in the areas of location analysis, regional development and spatial decision support tools. Those applicants with an interest in any or all of these areas are encouraged to apply for the Fellowship. Applicants with experience working with ArcObjects, Visual Basic and statistical software packages such as SPSS or SAS should highlight that experience in their application materials. The Fellowships are for one academic year during which Fellows are expected to fulfill their responsibilities on the project and make satisfactory academic progress toward completing their degrees. Each Fellowship includes a tuition waiver, competitive stipend as well as travel funds for Fellows to attend domestic and international conferences. Funding is also available to support each Fellow during the summer of 2010.
