26th AESOP Annual Congress 2012 CALL FOR PAPERS
Ankara, Turkey
DEADLINE: 15.01.2012
AESOP Association of European School of Planning
The theme of the 26th Congress is: Planning to achieve/Planning to avoid, The Need for New Discourses and Practices in Spatial Development and Planning. This theme faces the issue related to the drastic changes in the environmental, economic, social, and political contexts. Global warming, climate change, environmental deterioration, ecological degradation, depletion of natural resources, biological degeneration, and other macro processes are more clearly perceived and understood today by scientists, planners and the world community. New approaches, policy frameworks, and methods of intervention are considered as imperatives today. As conditions of economic and ecologic existence become more fragile, planning decisions and implementations demand greater transparency and shared responsibilities. This cangress is a call, therefore, to review the implications and significance of current and potential conditions and phenomena, and launch ideas in spatial development and planning.
