Web GIS: New Tools for Data Sharing and Collaboration

[i]22nd Annual GIS Conference [/i] 16-17 march 2009 California University of Pennsylvania The Towson University Department of Geography and Environmental Planning, along with other co-sponsors, announce our 22nd Annual Geographic Information Sciences Conference. TUgis 2009 will be held on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17, 2009 on the Towson University campus. TUgis 2009 will emphasize information sharing, or technology transfer, by anyone currently using GIS and anyone considering using GIS. The theme for TUgis 2009 is “Web GIS: New Tools for Data Sharing and Collaboration.” The plenary presenters for TUgis 2009 are: Dr. Sean Gorman, CEO and Founder, FortiusOne The Benefits and Pitfalls of Democratizing Geographic Data and Analysis: Lessons Learned from the Creation of GeoCommons Clint Brown, Director, Software Products, Environmental Systems Research Institute A Framework for Implementing Web GIS TUgis 2009 provides GIS and other professionals with the opportunity to share their experiences and receive recognition for their work. We encourage proposals of presentation topics for concurrent sessions that include individual presentations, panel presentations, mini-workshops, and a poster session. The Preliminary Program for TUgis 2009 is now available for download at: TUgis 2009 Preliminary Program Our largest program to date, TUgis 2009 includes 2 plenary presentations, 29 concurrent sessions featuring 86 presentations, and 12 mini-workshops. TUgis 2009 also features an exhibit area with over 40 exhibitors, an ice-breaker social, a job mart, a map design competition, and an ESRI Doctor's Office. This program, which was prepared with the assistance of our Advisory Committee, incorporates many recommendations made by last year’s attendees. We have implemented an online registration system for TUgis 2009. You may register online if you are paying with a credit card (MasterCard and Visa only). The online registration system has separate options for one day only registrations for Monday, March 16, 2009 or Tuesday, March 17, 2009, and for full conference" (two day) registration. If you used our online registration system last year, you may sign on with username and password to register for TUgis 2009. You can also retrieve your password if you have forgotten it.
