[u]EXHIBITIONS [/u] Until 10 September 2006, Main Galleries [b][i]Sense of the City[/i][/b] This major exhibition explores overlooked phenomena and modes of perception in the urban environment. From asphalt, the second crust of the earth, to cacophonies of everyday sounds and smells, to subtle signs of urban regeneration, discover a new `sensorial` approach to the city. For more information: 514 939 7026 or http://www.cca.qc.ca/exhibitions [u]LECTURE[/u] Thursday 8 December, 7 pm [b][i]Sensing the City[/i][/b] In compliment to the exhibition Sense of the City, this lecture series is presented in collaboration with Concordia University and is curated by David Howes, Director, Concordia Sensoria research team. The series proposes new readings of the city and examines the potential for architecture and design in relation to the senses. On 8 December, Sara Pimpaneau presents Un festival des sens: rituel et tourisme dans une ville japonaise. Pimpaneau has worked on ethnographic collections and exhibitions in Europe and Montréal, and is particularly interested in how material culture is used to create a sense of place. Free admission.
