Re-opening of the video library of the pavillon de l'arsenal

Starting the 25th November 2005, the Pavillon de l'Arsenal and the Forum des images « hors les murs » propose for one year more than 2000 movies in free access including fictions, documentaries and TV shows from 1895 to nowadays. The video collection of the Pavillon de l'Arsenal will also be accessible In addition to these 1200 hours issued from the unique collection of the Forum des images. Films on Paris but also lectures, debates, interviews of French or international architects, urban planners or artists, organised and recorded by the Pavillon de l'Arsenal, will be in free access in the viewing booths created by the architect Christian Biecher. Since 1988, the collection of the Forum des images constitutes a living 'visual memory' of the city. Paris today is not the same it used to be at the beginning of the 20th Century: the city and the world of cinema have evolved together. Movies keep a trace of this evolution; they are its witnesses and memory. This unique collection is the mirror of the city as diverse and multiple, showing the city as it is, as is has been or as it was dream. The chosen images are partly devoted to architecture and urban-planning, but the movies by most important directors that have observed Paris and chosen it as a film-set are also included. Contemporary social questions are not forgotten it this collection, and children are invited to discover unique sites in Paris. Animated through projections during the Year 2006, this collaboration between the Pavillon de l' Arsenal and the Forum des images allows discovering multiples aspects of the city and unique testimonies of those who make the city and its architecture.
