5th Conference of the Iberian DOCOMOMO Working Party

[/b][/i] [i]and its time politics,culture and architecture of the 1930s[/i] Sala de actos del Col.legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya Plaça Nova 5 Barcelona, October 26th to 29th, 2005 The Iberian DOCOMOMO Working Party and the College of Architects of Catalonia (Col.legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya) cordially invite both professional architects as well as interested members of any other discipline to participate in the 5th Iberian DOCOMOMO Conference, to take place in Barcelona from October 26th to 29th, 2005. Based on the success of past conferences held in Saragossa, Seville, Porto and Valencia, respectively titled “Housing and the Modern City: Ruptures and Continuities. 1925-1965”, “Architecture and Modern Industry. 1900-1965”, “Culture, Origin and Destiny of the Modern Movement, Cultural Facilities and Infrastructures, 1925-1965” and “Modern Architecture and Tourism: 1925-1965”, the Iberian DOCOMOMO Working Party this time proposes centering the debate on the reception and dissemination mechanisms, on the Iberian peninsula, of Modern Movement proposals, especially with regard to the activity of the GATEPAC’s most relevant chapter. For this reason, the 5th conference is titled: “GATCPAC AND ITS TIME: POLITICS, CULTURE AND ARCHITECTURE OF THE 1930s”. From this perspective, and coinciding with the 75th anniversary of this group, the conference is structured into four sessions: “Politics and Architecture”, “GATCPAC’s Internal and External Relations”, “Architecture and the City” and “The Culture of the Image”. The working languages of the conference are Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan. A simultaneous translation service from Portuguese, English and Italian to Spanish will be provided.
