[i]The third European symposium of research and teaching in Urban and Landscape Design Architecture & Heritage[/i] 11 - 13 October 2006 Brussels The third European symposium of research and teaching in Urban and Landscape Architecture « EURAU’06 Brussels » will be especially dedicated to « Architecture and Heritage », within the context of European construction, in four phases: 1.A scientific colloquium of four workshops in which sixty international authors, selected by a Committee of experts, will express their ideas and debate with some 250 members of the public, around four themes associated with architecture and heritage: a.New ideas and knowledge b.Research and professional issues c.Heritage as a sustainable development issue d.Heritage tools The communications presented at the sessions, and those chosen by the Scientific Committee will be published and provided at the end of the symposium. 2.Several Conferences introduced by leading figures from European Universities, institutions et professions, and form further afield, who have demonstrated their expertise in the domains of architecture and heritage : Notable invitees include: Jean BARTHELEMY, Andrea BRUNO, Vincent de VILLE de GOYET and Vincent SERVAIS, Frédéric DIDIER and Patrick PALEM, Freddy JORIS, Giorgio MACCHI, and Michel BOZZI. 3.An exhibition which will allow its participants, and even those attending the event, to present their activities, projects and achievements, following the four themes explored in the workshops. In addition, a second exhibition will display a collection of 29 display boards, one for each European Union member and membership applicant, representing architectural values in an expression of an architectural or urban language around a European identity. 4.Signature of a partnership agreement by representatives of both EU University Institutions and of Institutions in countries applying for membership, establishing the Socrates European University network “erasmus 3” those for the coordination of study and research programmes in the field of “Architecture and Heritage, an expression of European construction” bringing together architects, art and architecture historians, and archaeologists in their restoration projects and studies, and in the rehabilitation of urban and landscape architectural heritage. This protocol will be signed by Dominique Simonet, Minister of Further Education, of Scientific Research, and of International Relations of the Belgian French-Speaking Community ; Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, French Minister of Culture and Communication.
